When a catastrophic windstorm damaged the roof of a stunning lakefront estate on Cross Lake, the homeowners turned to the team to restore their architectural masterpiece. The property, complete with an infinity pool, hot tub, stone boathouse, and helicopter pad, featured an exceptionally complex multi-level design with a dramatic two-story glass atrium at its center. The original architectural shingles had been severely compromised by sustained winds exceeding 60 miles per hour, with tabs lifting across the water-facing exposures and moisture damage penetrating the deck along the lakeside eaves from wind-driven rain.
The team specified Boral steel stone-coated metal shingles in a warm terracotta brown blend to deliver the premium shake aesthetic the homeowners desired while providing the 120-mile-per-hour wind resistance essential for lakeside conditions. Beyond the roof replacement, the project required custom fabrication of stainless steel receiver channels and counter flashing where the glass curtain wall met the roofline at two different angles, plus enhanced ice and water shielding on all water-facing sides. The team also re-roofed the boathouse and re-flashed the chimney with lead-coated copper to combat the corrosive lake humidity.
Working with seven crew members over eight days, the project navigated weather delays and logistical challenges while maintaining meticulous attention to the homeowners' landscaping. Dr. Juan and Michelle Levine's satisfaction was evident—Dr. Levine noted from his boat that the roof made their home look like a completely different house, and Michelle's drone footage posted to Instagram generated over 200 engagement interactions, introducing the team's work to countless potential clients.
