Storm Damage: DaVinci Slate & Copper Turret Rebuild

When a severe hailstorm damaged the roof of a stunning French country estate on Gilbert Drive, the homeowners turned to the team to restore their architectural masterpiece. The two-story stucco and stone home, complete with turrets, dormers, and iron balconies, had suffered significant impact damage to both the main roof and decorative turret elements. The insurance adjuster quickly approved a comprehensive replacement after assessing the extensive damage across approximately 40 percent of the original synthetic slate.

The crew selected premium materials that honored the home's elegant aesthetic while providing superior durability. The main roof received DaVinci Roofscape composite slate in Bella Forte, a class 4 impact-rated product that delivers authentic old-world charm without the vulnerability of the previous installation. Custom multi-width blending of castle gray and smoky gray tiles created natural color variation mimicking aged slate. For the turrets and front entry cap, the team installed genuine copper penny panels from Classic Metal Roofing, which would develop a distinctive verde patina over time. The three dormers received Tamaco Heritage Vintage shingles to complement the garage wing while managing costs effectively.

Attention to detail defined this project. Every valley and dormer required doubled ice and water shield protection, all flashing was replaced with lead-coated copper, and custom saddle crickets were fabricated behind dormers. The turret presented the greatest challenge, requiring complete scaffolding and hand-fitted copper panels with soldered seams. The seven-person crew invested twelve working days to complete this flagship installation, with owner Darian expressing genuine satisfaction with the exceptional result.
