The team tackled an exceptional modern barn dominium on Longleaf Lane that truly showcased their ability to blend aesthetic vision with technical precision. This striking residence featured a dramatic architectural design with a steep 12-pitch gable roof paired with a flat-roofed wing connecting the garage and pool house. The homeowner's vision was clear: a cohesive, contemporary dark aesthetic using matte black standing seam metal roofing across the primary structure, complemented by black 60-mil TPO on the flat sections to maintain visual consistency while delivering proper flat roof performance.

The most significant challenge emerged at the junction where the standing seam system met an enormous glass curtain wall overlooking the pool area. Rather than settling for a standard approach, the team custom fabricated a continuous Z-bar with a reglet cut into the framing, then sealed it with Dow 795 structural silicone to ensure waterproofing while allowing thermal movement across all the metal components. Additionally, they resealed fourteen individual glass panel penetrations along the gable end with meticulous attention to detail.

Due to the extreme roof pitch, the 28-foot standing seam panels required crane installation—a necessity given their length and angle. Over a 20-day period, the crew of six plus crane operator executed the complete installation, including custom flashing for the metal-clad chimney chase.
